Tom Rowling milks 560 cows rotary cowshed on the outskirts of Morrinsville. The farm is a system 4-5 farm with a roofed feed pad to assist with feed supplements.
“We found the feed pad would go slippery, particularly in summer”. So Tom decided to try some HexFloor mats on the centre bay of the feed pad as this was the area that would be slipperiest.
“The cows are far more confident walking on the rubber, and it definitely has more grip even when the feed pad is wet. We drive our 20 cubic metre mixer wagon over the mats and they handle it with no trouble.
We can also keep using the scrapper for cleaning the mats. We’re really happy with the mats and are happy to tell other farmers about them.”
